WE SERVE AS ONE: The Faith Rally

The Catholics for Family and Life (CFL) staged its annual faith rally, with the theme “We Serve as One,” at the UP College of Social Work and Community Development in Quezon City on March 8, 2025. It was inspiring, fulfilling, transforming, and fun.

The word “rally” quickly brings to mind a mass action, either to protest in indignation or to encourage a positive outcome. For CFL, to rally means to regroup, pause, assess, and rework its plan of action to further achieve its faith-driven objectives.

The faith rally is an opportunity for CFL leaders to refresh and recharge in preparation for God’s work into the new year. Heavily laden with challenges and struggles, the leaders need to rekindle their passion to serve through God’s word, wisdom, and fortitude.

This year’s faith rally is called “We Serve as One.” It is a concrete call to serve with one heart, one mind, and one spirit. A call to all leaders to serve in unity. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the leaders are transformed into the best version of themselves. This results to a better community and better service that will significantly change the spiritual fiber of the world.

In the faith rally are two sessions: The Power of One and The Power of Each One.

The first session, The Power of One, is plainly about forging strength in unity. This is not a CFL design, but a primary component of God’s plan for CFL from the very beginning. In the spirit of fellowship and communion (Koinonia), there is a reverberating call to engage and participate. A perfect illustration of unity is the activity of breaking pencils. A single pencil is easy to break into two. But a bundle of pencils would be difficult to break even by the strongest hands.

Session Two, The Power of Each One, is a clear reminder that each one has a different personality and possesses a distinct gift. It further defines that unity is not sameness nor being compatible but about being complementary to each other’s divergent character traits. The Florence Lattauer’s 4 personality type test helps one to discover his/her true self and learns how best he/she can work and cooperate harmoniously with others in his household and in the community.

Following the 4 Ps - Play, Process, Plan, Pray – the two sessions are interwoven with talks, games, group activities, and prayers invoking the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

In the end, the faith rally is another learning experience worth remembering. Looking forward to the next in 2026.
