On August 10, 2024, on the Feast of St. Lawrence, martyr and deacon of the early Church, 24 CFL leaders from the Board of Trustees, Governance Council, and Faith Formation Center gathered to pray and discern on CFL?s theme for 2025. It was held at the Divine Mercy Hall at Our Lady of Consolation Parish and led by Bro. Tetet Pineda.
The theme-setting began with the rosary, then a Mass with priest presider, Fr. Mark Renacia, OAR, who shared about how St. Lawrence was one of the 7 deacons of the early Church in Rome. He was a man of courage, generosity, humor, and faithfulness. He followed Christ with love and joy, even in times of persecution and suffering. Like St. Lawrence, CFL?s work in the vineyard will entail challenges, but if we are steadfast, these experiences will ultimately bear fruit.
After a brief worship, Bro. Pancho Lopez-Tan emphasized the meaning and importance of theme-setting. Lead servant, Bro. Alfee Pontejos, presented CFL activities from 2023 and 2024 to set the context of where we have been as a community. Leaders then prayed over and reflected on the Scriptures submitted by members of the community. After the deliberation, the group selected Psalm 133:1: ?How good and how pleasant it is, when brothers dwell together as one!? (NAB). Bro. Chito Liban gave his insights about the significance of this key verse for 2025.
The activity ended on a joyful note with a simple communal lunch among brethren.
