Last January 24-25, 2026, Catholics for Family and Life held its annual Community Conference to kick off the year’s theme: “Soar on Eagles’ Wings: Hope, Run, Fly,” inspired by Isaiah 40:31: “They that hope in the Lord… will soar on eagles’ wings.”
This year’s conference was especially significant as it marked the 10th CFL Community Conference, a milestone in the life of our community. It focused on renewing hope in God, persevering in faith, and moving forward together in mission.
Ably led by this year’s Community Conference heads, Bro. Jun and Sis. Marie Villar and their team, the conference was far from ordinary. For the first time (outside the pandemic years of 2021 and 2022, when gatherings were held online), it was held in Manila instead of the usual Baguio venue. This intentional shift made the conference more accessible, allowing more members to participate, particularly long-time members who, despite being part of CFL for nearly ten years, were attending their very first Community Conference. Praise God!
The result was a strong turnout of 772 participants, including 34 delegates from CFL communities around the world. This was a 16% increase from last year’s 666 attendees.
The event was held at the newly opened Quezon City Meetings, Incentives, Conference & Exhibitions (M.I.C.E.) Center, adding to participants’ excitement over this milestone gathering.
Delegates listened to three talks. Talk 1 was given by Bro. Chito Liban with Bro. Gerry Balid of CFL Rome as a sharer. Talk 2 was by Bro. Tetet with powerful sharing by Bro. Joel dela Cruz. Talk 3 was delivered by Bro. Pancho Lopez-Tan with Bro. Mon Samaniego giving an inspiring sharing.
The conference concluded with an empowerment prayer led by CFL Lead Servant Bro. Alfee Pontejos.
Beyond the talks, the conference came alive through a praise parade where each group danced to the “SOAR” anthem. The E-Night showcased the talents of CFL Youth, Singles, and Maidens, with cultural performances such as Pandanggo sa Ilaw and Singkil, celebrating both faith and our Filipino heritage.
More than marking ten conferences, this gathering was a reminder of God’s continuing work in CFL. Participants felt renewed in their faith and were ready to soar high above together with the Lord. Some considered it one of the best conferences they had attended.
