Anniversary Message

I distinctly remember the day CFL was born. The date was September 8, 2016 (a Thursday) and the time was past midnight. It happened at the lanai of my house, where 40 or so individuals had hurriedly converged for an important caucus that would decide the future of their community life. After a marathon discussion that lasted for hours, divine inspiration led them to CFL on the feast of the nativity of our Blessed Mother.

Ten long years had passed since that fateful day. The journey had not been easy. The scars of battle and scourge of Covid bear witness to the travails we had to face along the way. But we survived the storms, not by our own efforts but because of the goodness of the Lord. Indeed, He is the Good Shepherd who leads us to still waters and green pastures, and carries us during times when we are lost, helpless and confused.

CFL started out modestly, confined to just one ecclesial territory called the Diocese of Novaliches. Today, it has presence in almost 30 geographical areas in the Philippines, and in 5 continents of the world. Our evangelization work has broken new grounds, venturing into the digital space through social media. It is active in Facebook, Instagram, and other online platforms, and can be heard and watched in radio and cable channels through the program “Making Moral Choices” over at Radio Maria.

As we celebrate our 10th Founding Anniversary, we take stock of who we are (our identity), where we came from (our origin), and where we are going (our mission). In all circumstances, we give back all the glory and honor to God who sustains us.

September 8, 2026 is a landmark in the unfolding history of our Community. It offers a golden opportunity for us to re-dedicate ourselves to the service of the Lord. We can start by hearing Mass, receiving Holy Communion, visiting Him at the Adoration Chapel, and doing charitable work on that special day. These devotional offerings count for much more than any celebratory festivities we can ever hold.

For the succeeding chapters of its existence, may CFL remain a lampstand for the Lord, radiating His light to others so that darkness may be dispelled in every family, marriage, and in all areas of life and faith. May He send us more workers who will labor in His vineyard, for the harvest is abundant but the laborers are few. (Mt. 9: 35-38)

Mabuhay and Happy 10th Anniversary to all!
